Welcome to the first Saturday Morning Stat! Each week we will post a statistic relating to either mental or physical health.
According to the CDC, every 1 in 5 children suffer from obesity. Obesity is when you accumulate an abnormal amount of fat, which can lead to long term health problems. One major reason so many people suffer from this is beacause they arent paying attention to what they are putting in their body. The food we eat is one of the most important things for our physical health, and when we dont know what we are putting into our bodies, our health will take a toll. This doesnt mean we should be cutting out sugary foods. It’s totally okay to have a sweet treat every once in a while. What it does mean is that we need to have a balance, and make sure we are getting the needed nutrients for our bodies, and not binging when we dont need too. It can be very difficult too recover from obesity, so start now! See if you can find healthy foods with the same yummy flavors, and make sure you are getting as many nutrients as you can through the foods you eat. Try eating less processed foods and more fruits and veggies, you might even realize you loved something that you always thought you would hate because its not processed! Lastly, remember its all about balance, and in order for anything to be healthy, it has to be done in regulation, so don't beat yourself up if you had something unhealthy, just remember to keep it balanced.
